Doctor

Dr. Hilde Garstman, optometrist

My name is Dr. Hilde Garstman. I started practicing optometry in the Netherlands in 2006. Three years later, I moved to Canada and started working in Vancouver after I successfully passed the Canadian Standard Assessment for Optometrists (CSAO).

I have a long affiliation with vision care. I started to work as a licensed Optician years before I became an Optometrist. After becoming the manager of the optical store I was working for, I decided that I wanted to learn more about Eye-Health Care rather than focusing on business administration. I discovered that my passion is providing health care to patients and being in contact with them. Below are the highlights of my career:

Staff

My name is Mehrdad. I assist Dr. Garstman in our clinic. My background is business administration, so naturally, I take care of all business related matters and the administration of the clinic. I am in charge of finding high quality, comfortable and fashionable eyewear products for our dispensing to make sure that after a thorough and comprehensive eye-examination, our patients are offered the best eyewear to enhance their vision while enjoy wearing them as a fashion item.

I studied and completed the NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology)/ OAC (Optician Association of Canada) Optical Sciences Eyeglasses program, which helps me to give the best advise to our patients regarding their choice of eyewear.

Next to English, I am also fluent in Farsi and Dutch.
